This year, for the first time ever, our national conference includes a
weekend Peace Camp for youth ages 6 to 12 years old and Peace Day Care
for children 5 and under.

We frequently become aware of policy papers created by various think tanks and other organizations. To support all of us in being more informed about policy issues related to peacebuilding and the reduction and prevention of violence, we are gathering such information in this space. They are organized with the most recently added at the top.

creating The Peace Alliance Educational Institute, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization focusing on violence prevention education and research.

On December 12, 2008, The Peace Alliance announced that we are in the process of establishing an affiliated organization to support our research and educational work in the fields of peacebuilding and violence reduction and prevention. This new organization is expected to be called The Peace Alliance Educational Institute and we are filing to have it be a 501(c)3...

By unanimous vote, the city council of West Linn, Oregon, on November
10, 2008 became the 38th governing council to endorse the legislation,
H.R. 808, to establish a cabinet-level Department of Peace. The
resolution was proposed by high school seniors. Hear directly from these powerful youth how they made it happen!

The efforts of West Linn High School seniors Lucas Pinelli, Kirk Larson and Chelsea Callas, paid off on November 10th, 2008 when the City Council of West Linn, OR joined Portland, Corvallis and Lincoln City by unanimously passing a resolution in support of HR-808, calling for establishment of a U.S. Department of Peace and Nonviolence.
